NHL DFS Lineup Advice – March 8, 2021

Happy Monday, Marksmen! Hopefully you all had a great weekend and are ready to make some more cash this week. All is right in the world, as Connor McDavid ended his 3-game pointless drought with a 3-point outing against Calgary. There are six games scheduled in the NHL this evening, so let’s jump into it.

Center

Connor McDavid (EDM): $9,200 vs. OTT
– As mentioned, bounced back with a 3-point performance last outing
– Leon Draisaitl looks to be reunited with McDavid on the top forward line, making this the most offensive duo in the league
– This will be the second game in as many nights for Ottawa
– Matt Murray started yesterday and Marcus Hogberg is out with injury, leaving Joey Daccord as the likely starter (four NHL appearances) – otherwise a potentially tired Murray who went to a shootout late last night in Calgary
– It’s all adding up for a monster game for Edmonton

Anze Kopitar (LA): $6,200 @ ANH
– Scored two goals and an assist last game against St. Louis
– Has now recorded 28 points through 22 games this season
– The Kings captain has been involved on 42% of the entire teams goals
– Anaheim ranks 6th in xGA, as they have allowed 74 goals against through 25 games
– John Gibson has a .889 SV% and 3.27 GAA on home ice this season – drastically worse than on the road

Chandler Stephenson (VGK): $4,600 @ MIN
– Remains priced at a discount as the first line center for Vegas
– Now on a four-game point streak
– Averaging 2.25 shots per game over that stretch
– Minnesota owns a 47.66 CF%, while Vegas an 8th best 51.54

Wing

Mikko Rantanen (COL): $7,700 vs. ARI
– Heating up after scoring four goals and two assists in his last three games
– Has proven he does not need Nathan MacKinnon to produce – although monitor his status as he is a huge boost
– Averaging 3.3 shots on goal per game
– Will continue to play on the top forward line and PP1
– Arizona ranks 5th in xGA

Brock Boesser (VAN): $5,900 vs. MON
– Tied for 5th in the NHL with goals scored at 13
– Coming off a three-point performance against Toronto
– Montreal travels across three time zones, to the west coast, to play a game starting five hours later than they usually would play (this is a hypothesis more than factual prediction – but players are creatures of habit and this is a big adjustment for Montreal).
– Averaging nearly 20 minutes of ice-time per game, playing on the second forward line and PP2

Kailer Yamamoto (EDM): $3,900 vs. OTT
– Is set to skate alongside Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl tonight
– Coming off a two-point performance (playing with McDavid and Draisaitl)
– Although their record is better, Ottawa has still allowed the most goals against in the league, by a wide margin (105 GA, second is Vancouver with 93)
– At just $3,900, Yamamoto should smash value considering his line mates

Defense

Tyson Barrie (EDM): $6,000 vs. OTT
– Edmonton is a -240 favorite tonight in a game with a 6.5 point total – best stacking team on the night
– Tyson Barrie plays in the top defensive pairing as well as quarterbacking PP1
– He recorded eight shots on goal last game, showcasing his ability to fire pucks on net
– Now with 18 points in 26 games, Tyson Barrie is one of the top offensive defensemen in the league (T7 in points at the position)

Nicolas Hague (VGK): $3,000 @ MIN
– Need to find value tonight in order to jam in McDavid, Draisaitl, and Barrie
– Hague is on the third D pairing and averages 16 minutes of ice-time per game
– Contributes in all statistical categories
– Averaging 7 DraftKings points per game

Goalie

Jordan Binnington (STL): $8,200 @ SJ
– Mental warfare game, for the St. Louis netminder
– Pulled last time he faced the Sharks and made quite the exit out of the game
– The Blues are a -160 road favorite tonight
– San Jose has the fourth worst xGF, as they average just 2.68 goals per game this season
– Slightly risky starting him in DFS tonight, but this one is going to be personal for Binnington

As always, you can reach me on twitter @J_maw for any additional comments or thoughts. Good luck tonight, should be a fun slate.
